When we say Bengal tiger than I don’t think we picture a tiger from the jungle or the zoo but instead we picture the most successful captain of the India cricket team, Sourav Ganguly. Indeed he played his last test and got out for duck but that did not stop the intellectuals comparing him to Sir Donald Bradman who himself got out at zero in his last test.
Sourav Ganguly took captaincy in his hands 8 years ago at a time when the team was not doing well but his skill and fighting power took the team to the world cup finals in 2002. It was his hard work and leadership skills that made India the 2nd best team in the world. With time controversies did circle him and he was shown the way out of the squad but as a true fighter he fought back his way into the India dressing room and proved yet again that where is a will there is a way.
He really contributed a lot to the cricket world with more than 10000 one day international runs and 7000 runs in tests. He indeed was a batting genius and a great captain. Truly, we will miss him in the field when India next plays. But that’s cricket. We will truly miss you DADA.
